Apologies for my absence.
It’s been a number of weeks since my last update and I promise you the time off hasn’t been for naught. There are three updates I want to share with you.
I’m realizing what’s most interesting is exploring Self Sovereignty, not just Bitcoin Citadels.
I just got married (again).
I’ve been published in Bitcoin Magazine for the first time!
Let’s break these down.
The Citadel is as much an idea as a place. In both cases the Bitcoin Citadel is profoundly under researched and under articulated in the Bitcoin ecosystem. What I’ve realized is the crux of building a Bitcoin Citadel and making it accessible begins with the individual and their ability to practice the principles of self sovereignty. In short, if you aren’t practicing what it means to be self-sovereign as an individual, you have no business building a Bitcoin Citadel. Why? Because if you haven’t yet put the work into making yourself self-sovereign (the individual bitcoin citadel of sorts), you can’t build a space for others.
What to expect?
This newsletter is continuing, but the topics will begin to address not only the building of a physical Bitcoin Citadel space and community, but the practice of Self-Sovereignty in the digital age.
I’m incredibly excited for where this is headed and can’t wait to share.
I got married (again)
Like many during these last months, I ran off with my fiancee to wed in the mountains of Colorado (Leadville specifically). Upon returning home and telling our parents, they congratulated us, then immediately asked when the wedding was 👀👀👀.
So, we planned a wedding for late September (hence my absence from publishing).
In short, it was beautiful, went off without a hitch, and we’re glad to be done with the preparatory cat herding!
Back to what I was saying about Citadels and Self Sovereignty. I recently had the opportunity to write a piece on Citadels for Bitcoin Magazine, and in conducting the preliminary research, I found the original Reddit post from nearly 8 years ago introducing the concept of a Citadel through the lends of a dystopian time traveller. You can read that post here.
What you’ll find is that it’s incredibly dark, not the kind of thing Bitcoiners hearken to today when we discuss the idea of a Bitcoin Citadel.
So, I did what any good author would do, I used the existing trope of the time traveler and rewrote the piece with reference to all of the positive developments in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
You can find my piece in Bitcoin Magazine HERE and I hope you’ll take some time to read it.
What comes next?
We keep building.
You can expect weekly or biweekly emails to resume, and you should expect the topics to embrace the broader theme of Self Sovereignty, inclusive of building Bitcoin Citadels.
I hope you enjoyed this update!
I hope you’re excited to grow your self sovereignty (or are actively in the process of learning and building it). It would mean a lot for you to subscribe to this newsletter and share it with those who you believe can benefit.
Please tell me what you think in the comments, and be sure to follow me on Twitter and Youtube if you aren’t already.
I’ll never charge for you to read these updates, so please ignore anyone or anything telling you otherwise.
