It’s assumed.
The citadel is a rural place, far away from society almost entirely.
But have you stopped to ask yourself why this is the case?
What is assumed is that living in a city embeds you in a series of entanglements to sovereignty that cannot be escaped.
Can you make your own electricity? Likely not.
Can you grow your own food? Nope.
Can you live in accordance with seasonality and the land itself? Absolutely not.
The base case for Citadel Building is that you must first go to a place where your entanglements to sovereignty are no longer entanglements. In a rural setting you can power yourself, grow your own food, and live off of the surrounding land.
This may seem altogether obvious, but I’d like to go a layer deeper and consider the psychology of being remote.
Bitcoiner Psychology
A sense, almost universally shared amongst bitcoiners, is a general malaise with modern, fiat culture.
It is a sensation so vast and omnipresent that we struggle to even identify the source.
As the title of this piece suggests, we have been living with our hands on the stove of fiat culture, as it has continued to increase in temperature, year by year..
At some point the pain, becomes too much, and we must pull our hand away.
We have to escape, not for the sake of our physical attachments, but for the wellbeing of our minds.
Outside of the practical consideration of why a citadel should be in a more rural location, I hope you will consider what a rural citadel does for your peace of mind.
What are you able to build when licensing, registration, and a bevy of taxes are gone from your startup?
What are you able to write and produce in a quiet that isn’t interrupted by the clank of your upstair neighbor, or that barking dog down the block?
How do you change as an individual when you no longer need to escape to a quiet place and your day to day life becomes an uninterrupted practice?
Food for thought.
