EP017: This Actually Changes Things
This product just dropped yesterday. You're going to want it.
You’ve Seen my Home Mining Build Already
As of this morning it’s silently hashing away on my porch in a chilling 23 degrees.
The fans are absolutely SILENT.
What’s the update?
It was quite the labor to put together my Brown Box (admittedly, one I wouldn’t have undertaken had I not been driving my wife insane with the heat and noise in our second bathroom.).
I happily published a couple of open sourced build guides for individuals to complete their own Brown Boxes.
But not everyone is so handy.
Lucky for those of us with two left hands, our friends at Upstream Data have just launched the official version of this product, the Black Box.
(NOTE: I’m not receiving any commission or compensation for the distribution of this new product, I love what this team is up to and want to spread the signal because they are the ones who published the initial open source plans.)
What does this mean?
There is something unexplainable about plugging a box into your wall and immediately contributing to the largest, most decentralized store of value on the face of the earth.
It’s tough for many of us non-programmers to really embody a technology and understand the power and utility.
Many of us need physical objects to help us understand how it all works.
The Hardware Wallet is an example.
It makes sense, the private key lives inside of that thing.
The Home Node (Nodl, Umbrel, etc.) is another.
I verify my own hodlings and transactions on my tiny personal computer that connects directly to the network.
Finally, we have a commercially available Black Box.
I RUN the network from my own home and contribute to the security of it.
To the broad consumer these three physical products embody a non-technical way of participating in Bitcoin, and for that reason I’m incredibly bullish on all of them.
We no longer have to explain Bitcoin only in esoteric or strategic terms, we can show up at your doorstep and say here is how it all fits together, and here’s how you can participate yourself.
I hope you enjoyed this update and are actively in the process of building and growing your self sovereignty. It would mean a lot for you to subscribe to this newsletter and share it with those who you believe can benefit.
Tell me what you think in the comments, and be sure to follow me on Twitter and Youtube if you aren’t already.
I’ll never charge for you to read these updates, so please ignore anyone or anything telling you otherwise.
